Joining Instructions: Oral Presentations


Please prepare your presentation according to the talk type you have been allocated.

  • Plenary Speakers: 45 mins (35 mins talk + 10 mins Q&A)
  • Invited Speakers: 30 mins (25 mins talk + 5 mins Q&A)
  • Contributed Speakers: 15 mins (10 mins talk + 5 mins Q&A)
  • Flash Talk: 3 mins (no Q&A)

 Preparing your presentation

  • Please prepare your presentation in either Windows PowerPoint or PDF format. Keynote is not supported.
  • The aspect ratio should be 16:9
  • You, as the presenting author, are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary copyright / permissions for all material included within your presentation.
  • Please ensure that you keep within your allocated time slot as these will be strictly enforced by the Session Chairs.

 Uploading your presentation and the on the day management

  • The Speaker Preview Desk is in the Etive Room located on the ground floor off the concourse.
  • The speaker preview desk opening times are:
    • Monday: 8am to 6pm
    • Tuesday: 8am to 6pm
    • Wednesday: 8am to 6pm
    • Thursday: 8am to 12:30pm
  • To rehearse your talk, book a time at the Speaker Preview Desk. We recommend that you check for correct presentation of your files - in particular if they contain videos or other animated items.
  • Bring your presentation on a memory stick and up-load it at the Speaker Preview Desk the day before your session.
  • Direct connection of your personal laptop in any of the presentation rooms is not permitted.
  • If you are presenting in the Clyde or the Lomond, the room technician will make your presentation live at the time you are scheduled to speak.
  • If you are presenting in Alsh, Boisdale or Carron, please click on the relevant folder on the desktop of the room laptop to access your presentation. Please note: the Speaker Preview Desk technician will upload your presentation to the room laptop in which you are presenting.
  • There will be an AV technician in the room or nearby if help is required.
  • Please sit near the front of the room to allow for a quick changeover between speakers.
  • The chair of the session will introduce each talk and then moderate all questions from the attendees.
  • All presentations will be deleted from the AV tech servers at the end of the conference.
  • If you are presenting in Sunday’s ECR sessions, please upload your presentation directly to the relevant folder on the room laptop; the Speaker Preview Desk is unavailable on the Sunday.

 The session rooms are equipped with the following audio-visual equipment/support

  • Projector (16:9 aspect ratio)
  • Screen
  • Room laptop
  • Lectern (fixed) and microphone 
  • Wireless microphone (The Lomond and Clyde rooms only)
  • Clicker and laser pointer
  • There will be AV support in each room/nearby, if required.
  • No other AV equipment is available
