Why Glasgow

Glasgow is Scotland’s cultural powerhouse, ranked by the Mercer Cost of Living Survey as one of Europe’s most cost effective cities and the first in the UK to be included in the Global Destination Sustainability Index. With Loch Lomond just 40 mins away, it's the perfect starting point for delegates to discover what Scotland has to offer.

Glasgow is committed to environmental sustainability, and a keen awareness of environmental matters following hosting COP26 in 2021. Glasgow is currently ranked 8th in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (the highest ranked UK city), and has featured within the top 10 every year since 2016. The SEC holds a Gold Award for Green Tourism and provides free city bike hire for delegates. The University of Glasgow is ranked 20th out of 1,400 universities in the QS World Sustainability Rankings. Both the University and the SEC are well connected by public transport, and have committed to plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
