FAQ's

If you are unable to find the answer to your question, via this website, please email claire.garland@iop.org

Can I contribute an abstract?

Contributions for oral and poster presentations are welcomed. Abstract submission is open, and will close 21 March 2025.

Can I attend?

The event is open to everyone from all backgrounds, whether you are a practicing physicist or if you have an interest in the subject and would like to know more. Postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows are especially encouraged to join the Early Career Workshop (10–12 July). Members of the public may enjoy the Public Lecture (13 and 16 July).

How can I register?

Registration is now available. We encourage you to register by the early booking deadline of May 9, 2025; however, registration will remain available until June 29, 2025.

Do I need a VISA to attend?

You may require a Standard Visitor visa to attend a conference in the UK. Citizens of many countries that previously do not require a visa will now need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA), so please check. For further information visit GR/Amaldi (eventsair.com)

What should I do if I need medical treatment?

You should always get travel insurance with medical cover before your trip. While in the UK, you can receive treatment from the National Health Service. There may be a cost associated with this, depending upon your home country. More information can be found from www.nhsinform.scot/care-support-and-rights/health-rights/access/healthcare-for-overseas-visitors/.

The emergency number in the UK is 999. The pan-European 112 works equivalently.

Can I attend online?

This is primarily an in-person meeting. Unfortunately, due to costs we cannot hold it as a hybrid meeting. Instead, recordings of presentations will be made freely available online after the meeting and proceedings will be published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series.

Are there any childcare provisions

A creche facility will be provided close to the SEC. Places are limited and allocated on a strictly first-come, first-served basis. Further information will be available via the website shortly.
