Lia Medeiros

Dr. Medeiros is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (UWM). Before arriving at UWM she was a NASA Hubble Fellowship Program, Einstein Fellow at Princeton University, was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and was a National Science Foundation (NSF) Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellow. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of California-Berkeley in Physics and Astrophysics and received her PhD in Physics from the University of California-Santa Barbara. Medeiros is a computational astrophysicist and her research focuses on modeling accreting black holes, using astronomical observations of black holes to test fundamental physics, and on developing new machine learning algorithms for image reconstruction of Event Horizon Telescope data.
