Laurens Landeweerd

Laurens Landeweerd (dr.mult.) is a Dutch philosopher specialising in the ethics of biotechnology, with a focus on responsible research and innovation, governance of emerging life sciences, and the societal integration of new technologies. His work connects philosophical analysis with science policy and interdisciplinary research practice.
He has received several Dutch national and European grants and has contributed to numerous international research projects, including IANUS, iRECS, PRISM-LT, RRING, NERRI, Synenergene, SynthEthics (as acting coordinator), Value Isobars, and BioTethics. Landeweerd maintains an extensive academic and societal network across Europe.
Nationally, he has been involved in projects funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), and previously with the Centre for Society and the Life Sciences (CSG) and the Kluyver Centre for Genomics of Industrial Fermentation (KC).
He has authored numerous academic publications, including five books and many contributions to edited volumes, establishing himself as an influential voice in European debates on biotechnology ethics and research governance.
