The current research interest is focusing on the exploration of materials and physics under high pressure extreme conditions: (1) Developed the high-pressure technique and improved the capacity of multianvil apparatus (Walker or Kawai-type), which can generate the pressures over 25 GPa and temperatures over 1600 ℃: High-pressure synthesis is clearly required in the search for new materials exhibiting exotic physical properties. However, the capacity of existing high-pressure facilities is usually limited (<10 GPa). The improved technique makes it possible to synthesize large volume, recoverable high-pressure products under a much broader range of pressure and temperature. (2) Well established the methods of characterizations on small high-pressure samples (< 1mm), such as measurements of structural and physical properties. A systematic study on the structural, electrical, magnetic and thermal properties under high pressure will lead to a deeper understanding of fundamental structure–property relationships, providing a roadmap for developing new quantum functional materials.
