Kenji Ohta (Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Tokyo Institute of Technology)
Ohta has promoted experimental studies on transport properties of deep Earth materials at high pressures and temperatures using the diamond anvil cell (DAC), and has reported some pioneering results on electrical and thermal conductivity of the Earth's lower mantle and core (e.g., Ohta et al., 2008Science, 2016Nature, 2023Physical Review Letters). In 2018, Ohta received the International Society Award named after Alvin Van Valkenburg, one of the inventors of DAC. Since Ohta started leading the lab in 2013, Ohta has worked with more than 10 students every year and reported more than 45 peer-reviewed scientific papers as results (see https://sites.google.com/view/kenji-ohta for more detail).
