Joining instructions for oral presentations


The conference programme is available on the conference website. It will shortly be updated to include the oral presentations taking place. Please note: talk times may change right up until the day, please keep checking back to the programme for your latest presentation time. 

Preparing your presentation

  • Please ensure that you keep within your allocated time slot as these will be strictly enforced by the session chairs:
    • Plenary speaker: Duration 45 mins (35 mins talk + 10 mins Q&A)
    • Invited speaker: Duration 30 mins (25 mins talk + 5 mins Q&A)
    • Contributed oral talk: Duration 15 mins (12 mins talk + 3 mins Q&A)
  • You, as the presenting author, are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary copyright / permissions for all material included within your presentation.
  • PDF and PowerPoint are accepted.

Uploading your presentation and the on the day management

  • Bring your presentation on a memory stick and up-load it to the room computer during the break preceding your talk. 
  • We recommend that you check for correct presentation of your files - in particular if they contain videos or other animated items.
  • If you're using a Mac, please present from your own device due to USB uploads may not always reliably transfer all presentation information. You must bring your own adaptor to connect to an HDMI display. Although, sometimes Macs are unable to connect to the University Wi-Fi network and presenting from the room computer via a USB might be required. Please bring your presentation on a USB as a back-up option. 
  • The chair of the session will introduce each talk and then moderate all questions from the attendees.

 The lecture theatre is equipped with the following audio-visual equipment/support

  • Projector
  • Screen
  • PC/Laptop
  • Lectern (fixed) and microphone 
  • Lapel microphone
