Alan Bowman

Alan Bowman studies and optimises materials for sustainability-related applications. His PhD, at the University of Cambridge, focused on spectroscopic and computational approaches to improve halide perovskite semiconductors – one of the most promising materials for third generation photovoltaics. This work revealed new pathways to stablise materials (via surface passivation effects) and developed computational methods to better understand excited states at semiconductor interfaces. Alan is currently a postdoctoral researcher at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), studying carbon dioxide utilisation via gold nanoparticles.
