Ulrich T. Schwarz is full professor at the Institute of Physics at Chemnitz University of Technology, Ger many. His research interests include optoelectronic devices based on group-III-nitrides, in particular the physics and development of light emitting diodes and laser diodes in the violet to green spectral region. This research interest is complemented by sensor science in the context of the degree program on sensor science and cognitive psychology at TU Chemnitz. Ulrich T. Schwarz worked as a Senior Development Engineer of Analytics and Metrology with Osram Opto Semiconductors, Regensburg, Germany, in 2015. From 2009 to 2015, he was a Professor of Optoelectronics with the Institute for Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK), Freiburg University, Germany. At the same time, he was a Group Leader with the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics (IAF), Freiburg. Prof. Schwarz was awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation with a Feodor Lynen Scholarship. From 1997 to 1999, he spent two postdoctoral years with Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, New York, with research on intrinsically localized modes. From 2006 to 2007, he worked with the Group of Prof. Yoichi Kawakami, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan, with an Invited Fellowship (long-term) awarded by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science. He is senior member of SPIE and Optica (former OSA)
