Guidelines for Oral Presentations


The auditorium is equipped with the following audio-visual equipment:

  • An AV lectern comprising:
    • Presenter PC with standard software (Microsoft PowerPoint, PDF viewer)
    • HDMI cable to connect your personal device to the display
    • A data projector
    • Speakers to amplify any audio from the PC or your connected device

Preparing your presentation

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary copyright / permissions for all material included within their presentation.
  • We recommend that you use a minimum font size of 16pt and that you chose colours that contrast and compliment.
  • Authors may bring their presentation on a USB memory stick and pre-load onto the integrated PC in the Auditorium or use their own device to present from.

Delivering your presentation

  • Please make sure that you have consulted the programme and are aware of the date and time of your talk.
  • Ensure you keep to the time allocated, as this will be strictly enforced by the session chair. Allocated times are:
    • Plenary talks: 60 minutes
      (45-minute presentation + 15 minutes for questions)
    • Invited talks: 40 minutes
      (30-minute presentation + 10 minutes for questions)
    • Contributed talks: 20 minutes
      (15-minute presentation + 5 minutes for questions)
  • Please ensure that you have set up and tested your presentation before the start of the session.
