The Urban Sciences Building (1 Science Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 5TG) is part of Newcastle University, but is located off campus (a 10 minute walk from the main university campus, and a 15 minute walk from Newcastle’s Central Station). This building is in the city centre and is easy to reach on foot from city centre hotels, or via the Metro (Newcastle’s light rail transport system).

Newcastle’s City Centre is compact, you can walk from one side to the other in around 30 minutes.

Metro

Newcastle’s light rail transport system, the Metro, connects Newcastle’s City centre to the airport, the coast, and to Sunderland. The nearest station to the Urban Science Building is St James’ Park, which is a 7 minute walk (0.3 miles). Alternative stations include Monument (11 minute walk or 0.4 miles), Haymarket (14 minute walk or 0.6 miles), and Central Station (14 minute walk or 0.6 miles). 

Rail

Newcastle Central train station has frequent connections to London Kings Cross and Edinburgh. It is in the centre of the city (around 15 minutes from the Urban Sciences Building) and is connected to the Metro system.

Air

Newcastle Airport has regular flights to European hubs such as Amsterdam, Paris and Frankfurt. There are also frequent connecting flights to London Heathrow. The Airport is connected to the city by the Metro system, the journey from the airport to the city centre takes approximately 40 minutes on the metro. 

Car

The paid car park near the Urban Sciences Building, called The Garage (NE4 5QB) includes 15 accessible bays. It can be reached from Corporation Street. There is also accessible street parking bays located on Bath Lane/Willington Street, outside The Catalyst and The Core. Please note that these are public parking spaces so cannot be reserved in advance.
