Dr Sun-Woo Kim is the Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. He earned his PhD in Physics from Hanyang University in Korea in 2020. His research primarily focuses on exploring novel quantum states of matter and uncovering the mechanisms underlying complex quantum phenomena using ab initio methods such as density functional theory (DFT) and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). Recently, he developed a software package for efficient phonon calculations at the DFT+DMFT level, which he has used to investigate the complex phase diagram of unconventional superconductors. His work aims to reveal the enigmatic mechanisms of unconventional superconductivity and to contribute to the design of novel superconducting materials.
