Professor Tetsuo Hanaguri

RIKEN, Japan
Tetsuo Hanaguri is a team leader at RIKEN Center for Emergent Matter Science. He obtained B. Eng. (1988), M. Eng. (1990), and PhD (1993) from Tohoku University. Before joining RIKEN in 2004, he worked as a research associate and associate professor at the University of Tokyo. His research field is experimental condensed matter physics. He has been interested in using less popular techniques, such as ultrasound, microwave, and scanning tunneling microscopy. His experiments have been performed at low temperatures, and he has transferred >30,000 liters of liquid helium to the cryostats during his career. He is currently focusing on spectroscopic-imaging scanning tunneling microscopy on unconventional superconductors and topological materials.
