The University of Sheffield, UK
Professor Dmitry Krizhanovskii has worked on the experimental nonlinear and quantum optics of hybrid light-matter systems for around 24 years. This work started from his PhD in Chernogolovka, Russia and followed on with the series of appointments at the University of Sheffield. In 2007, he was awarded a prestigious EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship to work on the polariton equilibrium and non-equilibrium condensates in semiconductor microresonators. He became professor of condensed matter physics at the University of Sheffield in 2019. Krizhanovskii has an extensive track record in the area of polariton physics. He designed setups and experimentally observed the temporal and spatial coherence of the polariton condensates, polariton condensates in dynamic acoustic lattices and studied properties of polariton fluids. He is well– known for the series of studies on the bright and dark polariton solitons, various lattice polariton phenomena and topological effects. He also investigated extensively the physics of vortices in polariton condensates and superfluids.
