Dr. Sophie Weber

Dr. Sophie Weber received her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2021. Since July of 2021 she has been a postdoctoral researcher working with Professor Nicola Spaldin in the Materials department at ETH Zurich. Dr. Weber’s research involves the use of first-principles density functional theory and related methods to predict and characterize phenomena which arise at the surfaces and interfaces of quantum materials. She has particular interest and expertise in topological materials, and the consequences of symmetry reduction at surfaces and interfaces for magnetic order.
