Carolina Marques joined the group of Peter Wahl in 2017 and obtained her PhD from the University of St Andrews in 2022. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Fabian Natterer at the University of Zurich.
Her research focuses on using low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy to investigate strongly correlated electron systems, such as the strontium ruthenates and transition metal dichalcogenides. Using quasiparticle interference, she aims at establishing how electronic correlations impact the electronic structure of these materials and the consequences to their macroscopic properties. Her PhD thesis received the thesis prize of the IoP superconductivity group in 2022. Carolina was awarded a Swiss Government Excellence postdoctoral scholarship in 2023.
