Presenter Joining Instructions 


Oral Presentations

The programme is available to view here. Please make sure you are aware of the date and time of your talk. As times may change, please check the programme regularly for updates.

Preparing your presentation

  • Plenary Talks: 24 minutes (6 minutes for Q&A/handover) 
  • Parallel Talks: 12 minutes (3 minutes for Q&A/handover)
  • Please rehearse your presentation to ensure you are keeping within the time allocated for your talk. 
  • The presenting author is responsible for ensuring that they have obtained the necessary copyright / permissions for all material included within the presentation.
PDF is preferred, if you wish to use another format, please provide a PDF document as a back up. If you wish to change your title or haven't uploaded an abstract, please contact cpatrick@ed.ac.uk.

Uploading your presentation and the on the day management

  • Presenters are encouraged upload their presentation to Indico in PDF format by 6pm, the evening before your talk.
  • Laptops will be provided for both plenary and parallel talks. 
  • Anyone bringing their own laptop will need to ensure its HDMI compatible or will need to bring an adapter. 

 During the Session: 

  • During your presentation, please adheres to the time limit. If you overrun, the Session Chair will interrupt you to conclude the presentation.
  • At the end of the presentation please provide succinct answers to questions. If any questions require extended answer, please suggest that you continue the discussion privately after the session has finished.

 The lecture theatres are equipped with the following audio-visual equipment/support

  • Projector 
  • Speaker PA system with Lectern microphone 
  • HDMI connections available
  • PC/Laptop
  • Clicker 
Poster Presentations

  • Posters should be A1 size and in portrait orientation.
  • Please bring your poster already printed, if possible, and ensure your name is visible on the poster.
  • If you are unable to print your poster, we can arrange printing in Edinburgh. Send your poster in PDF format to cpatrick@ed.ac.uk
    • Deadline: 2 April, 3:00pm
    • Printing cost: £12We will provide all materials required for displaying your poster.
  • Please mount your poster on the board labelled with your assigned poster number, as shown in the schedule on Indico.
