Instructions for Poster Presentations


Your poster will be available to view during the entire conference. The designated poster sessions are from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Monday 8 September, and from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday 10 September

Preparing your poster

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary copyright / permissions for all material. 
  • Posters should be prepared no larger than A0 in size (84.1 x 118.9 cm / 33.1 x 46.8 inches), in a portrait format. 

On the day management

  • You are welcome to put your poster on to the allocated poster board for the entire week, please ensure it's on the board no later than 2pm on Monday 8 September and removed by 3:30pm on Thursday 11 September. Any posters left on the boards after this time will be disposed of.
  • There are two poster sessions: 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Monday 8 September, and from 3:30pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday 10 September. Please check the website programme for the date of your session.
  • During the poster session you’re presenting in, you, as the presenter, should stand next to your poster to facilitate discussion on your work and to answer any questions.
  • Your poster number will be available to view on the programme page shortly, alternatively, on arrival at the conference make your way to the registration desk where you will be notified.
  • Fixing material will be supplied which is adequate for laminated posters. Fabric posters may be harder to mount.

Option for additional lightning talk to accompany your poster presentation:

  • There are three lightning talk sessions: 4pm to 4:30pm on Monday 8 September and two parallel sessions from 3pm to 3:30pm on Wednesday 10 September. 
  • If you would like to present a 2 minute, 1-slide only, lightning talk, please email vivien.thomas@iop.org to express your interest and answer the following question. The deadline date for applying is Sunday 13 August.

Question: Would you consider yourself to be an early-career researcher? Early-career is often defined as less than 10 years post-phd (taking into account career breaks, part-time work and/or other mitigating circumstances), or an equivalent definition in non-academic fields.

  • Acceptances will be confirmed shortly after 13 August. 
  • The 1 slide presentation (PowerPoint or PDF only) is to be emailed to vivien.thomas@iop.org by Sunday 31 August.
