I work on semiconductor quantum devices for quantum and classical photonic telecommunications and am passionate about Japan-UK Collaboration. After training at Oxford University and Imperial College London in semiconductor physics, I took a career break as scholar with the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, spending 19 months studying Japanese in Tokyo. I then joined the laboratory of Professor Yasuhiko Arakawa at the University of Tokyo, winning a JSPS Fellowship.I returned to the UK to join the university of Bristol, where I am currently a Senior Lecturer in quantum communications technologies.I am an elected member of the committee of the Quantum Electronics and Photonics Group on the Institute of Physics.
