Stephen LaMont is a Scientist
at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he currently leads nuclear forensics
and treaty monitoring projects in the Nuclear and Radiochemistry Group. He
earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Washington State University and has
contributed to and led Dept. of Energy sponsored projects at the Hanford Site
(1994-97), SRNL (2001-2004), LANL (2004-2010, 2015-present), and DOE
Headquarters (2010-2015) where he served as the Chief Scientist for the Nuclear
Material Information Program. His work
has focused on the radiochemistry and mass spectrometry of the actinides with
applications to internal dosimetry, nuclear forensics, proliferation detection,
and environmental safeguards, including the discovery and interpretation of
materials signatures to better assess the production history and provenance of
nuclear materials.
