Andrew Chew

I work as Global Applications Manager for Atlas Copco’s Scientific Vacuum Division which includes major vacuum brands such as Edwards, Leybold, Gamma Vacuum and Montana Instruments. I support technical and applications experts in our global sales centres. I am also responsible for tracking new technology and market developments and managing 3rd party collaboration and research projects. Of special interest is new pumping mechanisms and gas phenomena at deep XHV pressures.

Sam Lodge works as a physicist in the new technology validation group of Atlas Copco Vacuum Technique specializing in scientific applications and extreme high vacuum pumps and systems. He has presented work at the European Vacuum Conference and American Vacuum Symposium and has published work on NEG pumps in JVST B. He also sits on the committee of the UK Institute of Physics Vacuum special interest group. He is currently completing a master's degree in quantum technology, applications, and management at the University of Sussex.

Dr. Oleg Malyshev is a lead scientist in ASTEC at STFC Daresbury Laboratory new Warrington.

He is expert in all aspects of vacuum science and technology, including gas dynamics, design and operation of vacuum systems, experimental studies, data acquisition and analysis. He is an author of a book and more than 200 scientific papers.

Keith Middleman

Principal Vacuum Engineer at STFC Daresbury Laboratory responsible for all aspects of accelerator design and commissioning. Primary research interests are:

  • Outgassing facilities
  • ESD facilities
  • Calibration of total pressure gauges and RGAs
  • eXtreme High Vacuum (XHV)
  • Particle Control
  • Photocathodes
  • Surface preparation treatments for vacuum such as advanced cleaning, polishing (inc. BCP), etching, passivation.

Danny Sutherland

I have over 15 years of experience in the vacuum industry working across research, installation and account management. Currently I serve as a Key Account Manager at INFICON with a specific focus on leak detection. In this role I collaborate with users across a wide range of industries which has given me valuable insight into the practical applications of vacuum and leak detection technologies.
