Dr Oleg Malyshev

Dr. Oleg Malyshev is a Lead Scientist for Vacuum Science and Technology in Accelerator Science and Technology Centre located at UKRI/STFC Daresbury Laboratory near Warrington in UK.

His work is related to all aspects of vacuum system design and operation from experimental work on measuring desorption yield and pumping speed, calibration gauges and RGAs, to applying the experimental and theoretical result to the gas dynamics modelling of accelerator vacuum systems and, finally, writing CDRs and TDRs for various projects.

Dr. Malyshev combines a good experimental and analytical expertise in vacuum science and technology. His list of publications includes above 170 journal papers, papers in conference proceedings, reports, technical notes and preprints.

Apart from his main duties in R&D for accelerator vacuum, Dr. Malyshev is involved in number of other activities.

  • He is an editor of VACUUM since January 2011.
  • He is a Chartered Physics and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and presently he is also serving as a member of IoP Vacuum Group and BVC.
  • Dr. Malyshev is organinsing or involved in training of PhD students, graduates, vacuum engineers and technicians. He provided a number of schools, short courses and trainings associated with IUVSTA, BVC, IoP and STFC.
  • He was an organizer of three IUVSTA workshops and a member of organining committees for a number of others events.
  • He is a Chair of Organising Committee for EVC-17 that will take place in Manchester in 2024.
