Dr Andrew Chew

I first worked in vacuum science during my PhD in vacuum metrology which started in 1989. Additionally, I investigated tangential momentum accommodation coefficients at the gas-surface interface. After a Post-doc studying the intrinsic drag toques in superconductor suspension systems, I joined the Central Technical and Application Group at Edwards in 1995. There I worked in general roles including Technologist, Sales, Business Development and since the formation of the Scientific Vacuum Division of Atlas Copco (which owns the Edwards, Leybold and Gamma Vacuum brands) have been Global Applications Manager. I have a wide interest in vacuum applications and have 40+ publications and 50 conference presentations.

I am currently the Chair of the IOP Vacuum Group and was gained fellowship if the IOP in 2019
