Progress in Physics 2024: Condensed Matter

Reports on Progress in Physics has become a trusted resource for authoritative and cutting-edge review articles. We invite you to celebrate with us as the journal reaches its 90th anniversary. We’ll look back at some of the advances in physics that have been reviewed by the journal, but also to look to the future as the journal evolves to publish primary research articles.

Members of the journal’s international Editorial Board will be joined by invited researchers from the UK and Ireland across two days to discuss the latest in advances in their fields.  For 2024, the focus of the Progress in Physics 2024 conference will be condensed-matter physics, in recognition of our Editor-in-Chief, Subir Sachdev.

Condensed matter sits at the exciting interface between quantum physics and materials science, where the intricate interplay between electrons and atoms gives rise to wide range of strange and exotic properties. These include superconductivity, topological insulators, superfluids, spintronics, but also so much more.

Progress in Physics 2024 will present the latest in cutting edge condensed-matter research, including the theoretical frameworks that help us understand and hopefully control these fascinating properties, through to those technologies looking to harness these properties in practical devices, and everything in between.
