Takeshi
obtained his Ph.D in Chemistry from Durham University, U.K. in 2011, where he
conducted research in Professor Kosmas Prassides group. His research focus was
on investigation of the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of C60-solids.
His
first post-doctoral research was at School of Chemistry, University of
Edinburgh. While he continued to search exotic phenomena of carbon molecular
solids, he shifted from C60 to the family of electronically-active
polyaromatic hydrocarbons to discover new carbon-based molecular
superconductors.
He
then moved to China, where he joined the high pressure research group in
Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP-CAS), followed by X-ray
Science group, HPSTAR. His current research interest is to alter and improve
functionality of carbon-based molecules both by chemically and physically. By
combining high-pressure technique and chemical control of crystallization, he
discovered various interesting optical properties from simple organic molecules
that can be an important discovery for application in various optoelectronic
materials.
