Akun Liang

In 2019, Akun obtained his Master's degree in the condense matter physics from Sichuan University, China, where he conducted research in Professor Duanwei He's group. His work focused on measuring the melting temperature of diamond and cubic boron nitride under high static pressure.

Continuing his academic journey, Akun pursued a doctoral degree at the University of Valencia in Spain. Under the guidance of Prof. Daniel Errandonea, he delved into the study of metal iodates, examining their crystal structure, atomic vibration, and electronic properties under extreme pressure conditions. His research revealing the role of lone electron pairs in metal iodates and giving the guidance for designing the wide-bandgap metal iodates.

Currently, Akun serves as a post-doctoral researcher at CSEC, University of Edinburgh. In this role, he employs a combination of laser-heating diamond anvil cell and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques to synthesize and characterize novel metal nitrides. His work contributes to the exploration of new materials with potential applications in various fields.
