Prof. Ling Wang, University of Southampton
Ling is Professor of Tribo-Sensing at the national Centre for
Advanced Tribology at Southampton (nCATS), University of Southampton. She has
over 25 years research experience in the field of tribology and sensing and
published over 100 research papers in relevant areas. Her research focuses
on tribology of rolling contact fatigue; novel sensing techniques
for tribological contacts; and intelligent tribological systems using
machine learning methods. She is Fellow of British Institute of
Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) and chairs the Tribology Group Committee at
Institute of Physics since 2022. She won the 2017 BINDT COMADIT Prize and the
2021 IMechE Donald Julius Groen Prize.
Dr. Debashis Puhan, University of Sheffield
Dr. Debashis Puhan is a mechanical engineer and tribology researcher specializing in lubrication science, sustainable lubricants, and advanced materials for automotive, marine, and energy applications. Currently a Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, he has previously worked at Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge on major industry-funded projects. He has published extensively, awarded multiple international poster awards, and contributes to higher education academic teaching, mentoring, and professional service. He is also the secretary of IOP Tribology Group since 2021.
Dr. Kian Kun Yap, King's College London
Yap is a Research Associate at the Green Tribology Lab of King’s College London. He specialises in developing in-situ experimental techniques for real-time observation of tribological phenomena. These include developing high-bandwidth microscopy for characterising self-lubrication and ultralow wear in PFAS-free high-performance polymers and building high-speed fluorescence microscopy for investigating the tribology and texture of plant-based foods. He is the recipient of the IMechE Tribology Bronze Medal (2023), the IOP Innovation in Tribology Prize (2023), and the STLE Elmer Klaus Fellowship (2022).
