We warmly welcome you to attend the Annual IOP Winter Tribology Fair on 1st March 2024 in London. This free half day event organised by the IOP Tribology Group Committee aims at celebrating the success of tribology research. Meet your peers from other UK Universities and share your latest results. 

The programme features the following exciting talks:

 The All-Electric Powertrain – a Role for Tribologists, Professor Rob Dwyer-Joyce, University of Sheffield

Society is swiftly moving to electricity to power our transportation needs. The speed of the transition, prompted by political instability and a climate crisis is unprecedented. Both the power generation sectors, and the automotive industry are adapting with a rapid growth in wind energy and electric vehicles. This talk explores how power finds its way from the wind to the wheels of an electric car. The source of losses and the efficiency of the powertrain components are explored, and the role of the tribologist discussed.

This talk explores the self-lubricating and ultralow wear properties of PTFE using various unconventional in-situ techniques.
