Oral Presentations

Preparing your presentation

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary copyright / permissions for all material included within their presentation.
  • The screen resolution will be 16:9.
  • Please make sure you have consulted the programme and are aware of the date and time for your talk.
  • Ensure you keep to the time allocated as this will be strictly enforced by the conference chairs.

Delivering your presentation (in-person)

  1. As we will be streaming the talks, authors must use the presenter’s laptop in the lecture theatres and supply their presentation on a USB memory stick or by email to claire.garland@iop.org
It will not be possible to present from your own laptop.
  2. Supply your presentation as a PowerPoint (ppt file) or PDF.
  3. Please check your presentation in the break preceding your session.
  4. Talks will be live streamed for those participating virtually. We therefore recommend that you use a minimum of 16-point font and use bold colours for text to ensure legibility.

Delivering your presentation (virtually)

  1. We will be using Zoom Meetings and breakout rooms to stream the talks, and links to join the sessions will be included in the joining instructions sent out to attendees on Monday 11 September.
  2. Please ensure you have downloaded the Zoom app or have tested Zoom in your web browser if you have never used Zoom on that device before. Where possible, we strongly encourage presenters to use the app rather than accessing through a web browser since this provides the full Zoom experience. Check the latest version of Zoom via the Download Centre
  3. Watch a short tutorial on using Zoom at https://youtu.be/SMWuRHVNUwA
  4. Please ensure you share your systems audio.
  5. The expectation is that presenters will be able to share their screen to deliver the presentation; however, all presenters are asked to send a back-up copy of their slides to claire.garland@iop.org.
  6. Join the meeting 5 minutes before the session is due to start.
  7. Input your full name and organisation (abbreviated as necessary) to fit within the 64 characters allowed in Zoom (and if you wish, your preferred pronoun) as your profile name – since we will be relying on this information to give participants access to the meeting.
  8. Please keep your audio muted until you are invited to speak
