This ‘Digital Solutions for Tribology’ one-day event jointly organised by IOP and IMechE Tribology Groups is the 3rd of the ‘Tribology and the Journey to Net Zero’ Series initiated by IMechE Tribology Group in 2022. Tribology is key to helping achieve the ambitious drive to net-zero by 2050, from increasing machinery efficiency to enabling new technologies which positively impact the design and design practice for moving parts.
The seminar will cover a spectrum of digital techniques as applied to tribology, for example, digital twins, simulation, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, molecular modelling, data processing and data fusion. Applications may range from laboratory and research testing through to automation in Industry 4.0 and field implementation of commercial products. Tribology is key to helping achieve the ambitious drive to carbon net zero by 2050, from increasing machine efficiency (by reducing carbon footprint and premature scrappage) to enabling new technologies which positively impact the design and design practice and operation for moving parts.
