Submission


Abstracts are invited for papers or posters that focus on how complexity science is/can be used to navigate the complex, interdependent and escalating challenges we are facing.  Your work may be situated in such sectors as education, health, governance, political economy, policy, business and the environment  – and, we hope, may also take an interdisciplinary approach. 

We particularly encourage contributions that explicate how complexity theory informed your approach and resulted in practical application are encouraged. 

Abstracts will be selected on the basis of:

  • Application of complexity science to a social issue or issues
  • Quality of methodology and evidence and/or theoretical argument
  • Relevance to conference theme and contemporary challenges 

Please submit an abstract of up to 400 words (excluding references) with no more than one diagram/image. The abstract submission deadline is 22 August 2025. Authors will be notified of the results by 26 September 2025.

Submission Details

  • To begin your submission, please create an account selecting a memorable password.
  • Enter the abstract title (maximum 25 words)
  • Choose your preferred presentation type of poster/lightning talk or contributed talk (20 minute talk including questions)  The organising committee will note your preference but cannot confirm your preferred choice will be available. 
  • Enter the authors and affiliations
  • Paste your abstract using the following sub headings:
    - Introduction
    Key complexity concepts that inform your work (including key citing literature)
    - Approach
    - Results, discussions and link to practice
  • Indicate the relevant Career Stage using the pre-populated drop-down menu.
  • Indicate How you feel your abstract addresses the theme of the conference?  
  • Agree to the terms and conditions.

Once the submission portal is successfully completed, you will be able to submit your abstract. Otherwise, you will only have the option to save it as a draft. Upon submission, the corresponding author will receive a confirmation email, including login details to edit the submission and check its status.
