About

Quantum Physics (QP) and the Physics of Life (PoL) are two dynamic areas of research that are demonstrating disruptive potential in terms of new scientific insight and translational impact. This one-day conference aims to tap into this growth by bringing together UK researchers from a wide range of disciplines who are investigating fundamental research questions in the area of “quantum bioscience”, broadly defined as research bridging quantum physics and biology. The meeting will aim to discuss recent advances in two complementary fronts and explore the potential for nurturing greater synergies between the QP and PoL communities. First, we will discuss advances and challenges in understanding and certifying quantum processes taking place in complex biomolecular systems and the possible biological and technological impacts of such processes.  Second, we will discuss recent advances and opportunities in deploying quantum resources and quantum technologies for accelerating biological discovery. It is hoped that one of the outcomes of the meeting will be the formation of a community of best practice with a focus on curiosity-driven research and multidisciplinary collaboration that can significantly push the frontiers of quantum bioscience, and lay the foundations for new pipelines towards real-world applications.
