Dr Ben Spencer

Ben is faculty lead for Surface Analysis at the University of Manchester and Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials. Since 2019 he has led development of laboratory-based hard X-ray photoelectron Spectroscopy (HAXPES) with a first-of-its-kind instrument from Scienta Omicron GmbH. His research spans a variety of advanced materials research particularly energy materials including photovoltaics. Ben is a committee member in the IoP Materials and Characterisation special interest group.
