Dr Gareth Price is a senior
lecturer in digital cancer healthcare at the University of Manchester and a
medical physicist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. His research interests
are in the capture and use of 'real-world' patient data, the information
digitally recorded about patients as part of their normal care, to
generate evidence, and to develop, evaluate and optimise healthcare innovations
to the needs of local patient populations, many of whom are under-represented
in conventional medical research. His work focuses on the development and
application of the Learning Healthcare System (LHS) concept, and he leads and
contributes to research projects that span the workflow of this approach:
innovative data capture and sharing technologies; the use of machine learning
to provide clinical insight; and the prospective use of real-world data to evaluate
the clinical impact of changes in practice where conventional clinical trials
are not practical.
