Marc Casals obtained a Ph.D. from the Dept. of Mathematical Physics at University College Dublin, Ireland, followed by research fellowships at University College Dublin, Dublin City University and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Canada. Afterwards, he became research faculty at the Brazilian Center for Research in Physics (CBPF), Brazil, and currently at Leipzig University, Germany. His research interests are mainly in black hole physics, ranging from classical to quantum aspects, such as their stability properties, their quantum properties and the gravitational self-force for modelling black hole inspirals with the corresponding gravitational wave emission.
