Invited Talks


We invite abstract submissions for Early Career Researcher (ECR) talks. Invited talks are part of two sessions, each covering a key topic of the event.

Each session begins with a 30-minute plenary that will provide a broad overview of the topic. This is followed by three, 10-minute (excluding time for questions), focused talks delivered by ECRs, each addressing a specific subtopic related to the session’s key topic. All approaches to the field are welcome: statistical, modelling/theoretical, and qualitative. 

Key topic 1 - Climate-science policy interface

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Science to inform inclusive policy development and decision-making
  • Health interventions and support for vulnerable and underrepresented groups
  • Spatial variations/distribution in risk to extremes of cold and heat
  • Compound events/multiple exposures 
  • Consequences of thermal extremes on physical health and mental wellbeing

Key topic 2 -  Built environmental conditions, design and infrastructure 

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Architectural design, building themal properties and comfort
  • Indoor environments: mitigating and adapting to thermal extremes
  • Energy infrastructure and equitable distribution
  • Risks to critical infrastructure related to health
  • Adaption strategies for improved health outcomes: urban planning, nature-based solutions, urban greening    

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract word limit: 200-250 words (figures/references are permitted in addition)
  • Deadline: 24 September 2026
  • Notification of acceptance: 8 October 2026

Who Should Submit?

We encourage abstract submissions from researchers who consider themselves to be ‘early’ in their career stage, such as master’s students, PhD candidates, doctoral researchers, or those of an equivalent career stage, typically within no more than ten years’ post PhD completion (excluding career breaks).

If you have completed the submission portal successfully, you will be able to submit your abstract otherwise it will only be possible to save as a draft. Once submitted, the corresponding author will receive an email confirming receipt of the submission as well as log in information which can be used to edit the submission and check the status.
