Professor Thomas von Woedtke


Thomas von Woedtke was born in Görlitz, Germany, in 1962. He studied Pharmacy at Greifswald University, Germany. He received the pharmacist diploma from Greifswald University in 1988, the Doctoral Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology in 1995, and the Habilitation degree in Pharmaceutical Technology in 2007 from the same university.  Since 2008 he is Research Program Manager Plasma Medicine at the INP and since 2020 Member of the Board of INP. He holds a professorship for Plasma Medicine at Greifswald University Medicine since 2011.

His research interests are in the field of medical application of cold atmospheric pressure plasmas, on basic processes of plasma-liquid interactions as well as in basic research problems of plasma-cell and plasma-tissue interactions including antimicrobial plasma effects.

He is founding member of the International Society for Plasma Medicine (ISPM), Member of the Board of Directors of ISPM since 2016 as well as founding member of the German National Center for Plasma Medicine (NZPM e.V.) in 2013 and Deputy Head of NZPM since 2015.

In 2016 he received the Plasma Physics Innovation Prize of the Plasma Physics Division of the European Physical Society, together with Klaus-Dieter Weltmann, Greifswald, Germany, and 2021 the Plasma Medicine Award of the International Society for Plasma Medicine (ISPM).
