Mike Jackson has a degree in Chemical Physics and a PhD in Surface Science from the University of Liverpool. He studied surfaces and interfaces mostly of semiconductor systems. Following this he worked as an engineer and R&D scientist for a mass spectrometer company looking at quadrupole and time of flight ion separation and patenting an extended range ion detector. He left to run his own business as a renewable energy consultant and assessor before returning to science by doing a MSc in Fusion Energy at York University. Mike now works at Tokamak Energy on solid plasma facing materials.
