A conference to bring together UK stakeholders in Nuclear Data from across energy, medical, and security sectors to continue the reinvigoration of the field within the UK.

All models are wrong, but some are useful”  is the famous insight from statistician George Box. For nuclear science and technology, how wrong, and how useful in large part comes down to the quality of the nuclear data that scientists, engineers, innovators, doctors, regulators and legion of professionals have available to them to underpin the simulations and calculations.

As the United Kingdom moves into a golden age of nuclear, society needs access to the assured data required for the safe and efficient operation of new technologies. This conference reflects our understanding of the current challenges and the requirement for the nation’s nuclear data experts to remobilise and target our efforts, skills, and expertise.

Jointly organised by the IOP’s Nuclear Industry and Nuclear Physics special interest groups, the conference will focus on the key topics of nuclear data for energy, security, medicine, and fundamental science, as well as the theoretical, experimental and data handling methods required to produce them. We will hear from distinguished scientists and talent early career researchers from our national academic and research institutions covering notable success, identifying current challenges and charting a path forward for UK national nuclear data needs
