Jen Barnes

Jen is an accredited Radiation Protection Adviser with over 27 years’ experience in the nuclear industry and a background in radiation detection and instrumentation. She is a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional, Manager of the Jacobs Clean Energy Corporate Radiological Protection Service, Manager of the Jacobs Approved Dosimetry Service Manager, the Jacobs appointed Qualified Person for radiation monitoring instrumentation and the technical lead for radiometrics within the decommissioning business.

Jen began her career working for NE Technology Limited (now Thermo Fisher Scientific) in 1997 as a physicist in their R&D team. In this role, Jen provided physics input into the design, manufacture and type testing of new products, resolved technical issues arising during routine manufacture and managed a track-etch radon service which processed over half a million detectors. In 2004 Jen moved to NNC Limited (now Jacobs) where she gained experience in radiation protection and decommissioning and now works as a Technical Director within the Radiation Protection, Characterisation and Specialist Remediation team.
