Heather Beaumont


Heather is a Chartered Physicist and Fellow of the Institute of Physics with over 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry. She has worked on a wide range of topics and different reactor types ranging from advanced reactor systems including Fast Reactors and High Temperature Reactors to operational reactors such as AGR, PWR. She has extensive experience in High Temperature Reactor (HTR) technology and Fast Reactor technology.  Her experience includes project and technical management of numerous tasks of various sizes for a range of clients. Heather has many years of experience managing a large multi-disciplinary team working on reactor physics, shielding, criticality, safety, thermal hydraulics, hazards assessment and safety case, PSA, radiological consequences assessment and licensing for Jacobs nuclear projects in an international facing area of the business. Her technical background is in the area of reactor physics. She is a UK representative on the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), Education and Training Working Group (ETWG). She is currently working on a reactor design project for a HTR under the DEZNZ Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) programme.

She is currently the Head of Profession for the Physics, Waste and Environment discipline within the nuclear business providing functional leadership across the whole of the physics discipline including responsibility for staff training needs and development. She is the Technical Manager of Jacobs Nuclear Graduate Training Scheme within the ES&T business. She is actively involved with the Institute of Physics, currently sitting on the CPhys Chartership panel, acting as a Professional Review Advisor, sitting on the Professional Development Advisory Committee and has recently joined the Professional Standards Committee. She won the IOP Phillips Award in 2021.
