Organised by the Sustainable Energy Systems Network Plus and supported by the IOP Energy Group, this workshop focuses on circular economy and recycling for photovoltaic (PV) systems in the UK. It brings together academic researchers and industry leaders to explore strategies that maximise material recovery, reduce environmental impact, and strengthen domestic supply chains. By fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange through invited talks and panel discussions, this workshop aims to accelerate the transition toward a resilient, low carbon, and resource efficient PV sector in the UK.

The workshop aims to engage both early career and established researchers from the UK Solar PV research community to address the growing challenge of managing end of life solar technologies, and how these can be both environmentally sustainable and economically competitive beyond the 2050 Net Zero target.

The day will feature:
  • Perspectives from invited industry speakers active in PV recycling
  • Presentations showcasing recent research in solar PV recycling, circularity and sustainability from (names here)
  • PV industry panel session address current and future challenges and opportunities featuring (names here) with opportunities to put your questions to the panel
  • Briefing on the SES Network Innovation Support Fund: funding for UK universities to work with industry address the challenges within this topic.
