This event on Physics and Architecture explores the deep connections between scientific principles and the built environment, bringing together insights from both disciplines to address contemporary design challenges. Covering topics such as classical architecture and the physics of form, the programme examines how fundamental physical laws have long influenced aesthetic and structural decisions. It also looks ahead to modern applications, including the engineering of tall buildings and high-rise structures, advances in concrete and material performance, and the emerging field of regenerative design, which seeks to create buildings that actively enhance their surroundings. Through contributions from leading experts, the event highlights how integrating physics and architecture can drive innovative, sustainable, and resilient design solutions.

This event is one of a series of At Homes organised by REMS (the London & SE Retired Members Section). Regular attendees will recognise that our At Homes are not just about the subject at hand, but they provide an opportunity for family attendance and catching up with friends old and new. As usual, the formal part of the day will be followed by a Reception. All are welcome.
