The principles of physics exert a critical influence within the cellular environment, dictating the active stress and dynamic processes that underpin biological functionality such as cell division, intracellular transport, morphological changes and membraneless condensate formation. Mechanical forces, energy transference, and molecular mobility within the cell underscores the indispensable role of physics in sustaining life at the microscopic level.

We are putting together a firmly multi-disciplinary workshop with physicists and biologists, which focuses on understanding how physics governs the myriad of biological processes taking place within the cell. We are looking forward to a cross-disciplinary programme of talks on topics including (but not restricted to) chromatin physics, mitochondria, biomolecular condensates, forces in the cell, and the cytoskeleton. We welcome experimental, theoretical, and computational physics approaches.
