The SES Network Skills Development Workshops are in-person events focused on topics directly relevant to the UK solar PV industry. They are aimed primarily at Early Career Researchers (MSc, PhD, Postdoctoral Researchers and New Lecturers) from UK universities, while also welcoming attendees from industry and academia at all career stages.

The topic for this workshop is: PV for Energy Access. This can encompass a wide range of subjects relevant to enabling solar PV deployment in the UK and overseas, such as underpinning local PV manufacturing, off-grid and mini-grid PV, PV-battery systems, community solar projects (UK & overseas) and exploring energy justice and societal attitudes and perceptions of solar PV. 

The PV for Energy Access Skills Development Workshop emphasises discussion, knowledge exchange, and partnership building to allow participants to connect across disciplines, share perspectives, and explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing PV technologies to underpin energy access in the UK and overseas.

The day will feature:

  • Industry speakers: confirmed speakers include Neil Spann, Power Roll and Adrian Clews, Hinckley Recycling. More TBC
  • Industry panel session with Q&A
  • Short talks from academic researchers in the field

Who should attend: Early Career Researchers from UK universities with an interest the reuse, recycling and circularity of PV systems; Senior researchers who wish to engage directly and share ideas and issues with industry.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the day.
