On Thursday 21st May, the National Research Facility in XPS (HarwellXPS), will lead the EPSRC Photoemission Spectroscopy* Roadmap "Town Hall" event, at the Institute of Physics in London. The meeting is supported by the Materials and Characterisation Group.

The purpose of this event is to build upon the survey conducted to produce a comprehensive roadmap for photoemission spectroscopy. Attendees are strongly recommended to complete the survey at the following link: Photoemission Spectroscopy Roadmap Survey by 31st March, if they haven’t already.

The objectives of the event will be to:

  • Conduct a robust assessment of the state of photoemission spectroscopy in the UK and assess our international competitiveness
  • Identify our Strengths, Weaknesses, our Opportunities and Threats
  • Produce a series of recommendations for the future of PES in the UK

This event is for people who work in the UK and fall into any of the following categories:

  • University researchers (of any career stage) who use PES as part of their research
  • Technical professionals who manage PES instrumentation
  • Industrial researchers who use PES as part of their research

If you want to be a part of shaping the future of Photoemission Spectroscopy in the UK, then please register!

Photoemission Spectroscopy” is an umbrella term encompassing all forms of photoemission. The most common type of PES is X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), but there are several other techniques such as UPS and ARPES which are types of photoemission.
