The Physical Acoustic Group’s annual tutorial day will be held on 18th October 2024 at the Institute of Physics, focusing on the theme “Acoustic Metamaterials.” We are honoured to have Prof. Richard Craster, Prof. Geoff Nash, and Dr. Gianluca Memoli as our invited speakers for this event. The day is structured to introduce the topic to a non-specialist audience through two comprehensive tutorials and a special talk, alongside a poster session showcasing current research.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will gain insights into:

Mathematical modeling of the mechanical behavior of metamaterials.
Active phononic metamaterials and their applications.
The application of metamaterials in designing room acoustics.

Poster Session:

The meeting will also include a poster session where researchers and students can present their work in the field of metamaterials. We invite abstracts for poster presentations, and all attendees are welcome to participate in this informative and engaging day.
