The Nanoscience@Surfaces Summer School 2024 will introduce the techniques and applications of Surface Science with a focus on understanding and engineering surfaces at the nanoscale. A wide range of experimental and theoretical techniques will be covered including: Scanning Probe and Electron Microscopies, Electron and Optical Spectroscopies, Surface Structure from Diffraction Techniques, and the Modelling of Surfaces and Adsorption on Surfaces. How these techniques are applied to the study of surfaces in the fields of strongly-correlated materials, surface and thin-film magnetism, bio-interfaces, atmospheric sciences, astrochemistry, battery science and electrochemistry, and catalysis will be reviewed. Perspectives on future directions, emerging trends, and novel techniques will also be explored.
A Poster Prize will be awarded to the best student poster decided by a panel of judges, and is £100. The winner will also be highlighted in the TFSG newsletter.
