Wendy Sadler



Wendy Sadler, MBE, FInstP, is the founding Director of Science Made Simple – an award-winning social enterprise that offers science shows to schools and families across the UK and internationally. Since 2002 they have reached over a million people with their engaging STEM presentations and have worked in over 30 countries. The company has a serious mission to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers and to raise the profile of STEM within popular culture. Science Made Simple was awarded the Rooke Medal from the Royal Academy of Engineering for their work in the promotion of Engineering, and the EU Descartes prize for Innovation in Science Communication. 

Wendy is also employed as a lecturer in science communication for Cardiff University and works with Welsh government on STEM and gender issues. She delivers public engagement training for researchers and has worked with Royal Society Fellows, The Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Physics to train their members to become better at engaging diverse audiences with their work. 

Wendy studied Physics and Music with the intention of becoming a sound engineer but is now passionate about combining her love of science and performance to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. She was awarded an MBE for services to science and engineering communication in the Queen’s Birthday honours list 2017.

Wendy is the author of 19 science books, has presented a series of science programmes on ITV Wales. One of her proudest moments was to be part of the first all-female team on Channel 4s programme Scrapheap Challenge! Unfortunately, they lost.
